A purebred Hereford female from Bonang, Victoria, may have taken the crown of Australia's most fertile female recently when she delivered a live set of quadruplets, after she previously had twins as a first calver.
The four-year-old second-calf female greeted owners, David and Julie Ingram of Rose Cottage with two heifer calves and two bull calves in May.
"Two had had a drink, and we knew there was rough weather coming in so we got them up and into a shed on straw, kept them warm," Mr Ingram said.
"The strongest (heifer) went with her when we let them go, but we realised they were up to a month premature ... the bull calves didn't go ahead, so were put down seven days later.
"The other heifer calf we let go of five days later and she mothered it."
Multiples were not a first for the Ingrams.
Along with their son, Glen, they join about 400 head and this year alone have had nine sets of twins, compared to 14 sets in 2018.
On Tuesday, the cow and her two heifer calves returned to her original mob.
