Clare Valley is one of four regions in the running to host a special Wotif event this November.
Known as The Festival of Wheat, Wool & Wine, it has been nominated and chosen as a short-listed finalist, with Clare Valley Wine & Grape Association general manager Lucy O'Brien encouraging as many people as possible to get behind it.
"It's amazing, thousands of people have entered (and we are shortlisted)," Lucy told Northern Argus.
"(if we win) It is a great opportunity to get as many people as possible to Clare. We are beyond excited that Clare Valley has been short-listed."
Lucy said this was an opportunity to bring everyone together to celebrate all the fantastic local produce the Clare Valley has to offer.
Clare Valley's festival is among others like the Festival of Mangoes, in Bowen (QLD), The Festival of Snags, Mudgee (NSW) and The Festival of Redheads, Maryborough (QLD).
Wotif is an Australian online accommodation site established in 2000.
A spokesperson from Wotif told Northern Argus should the Clare Valley receive the most votes and win the competition, the festival would be held in mid to late November.
"The Clare Valley was nominated by a local resident via the competition website during the nominations phase of the campaign," the spokesperson said.
Clare Valley and its festival was shortlisted for its originality, tourism appeal and relevance to the local area.
"Above all else, we loved these unique concepts and how they intrinsically linked back to the local area and community within," the spokesperson said.
While the towns have been shortlisted by Wotif, it's up to the general public and communities to get behind and vote for the festivals.
Wotif managing director Daniel Finch congratulated Australia on a number of excellent entries, highlighting the best this country has to offer.
"We can't wait to see which festival Australia gets behind and we're looking forward to working with the winning town to create an experience that locals will love and is worth travelling for," Mr Finch said.
