THERE was a small yarding at the Mount Pleasant market on Thursday, but the market remained firm to dearer across the sale, according to Landmark Fawcett's David Schultz.
He said quality was good for this time of year, with the tail end of the older lambs slowing down, and the beginnings of the sucker lambs starting to come in.
"Lambs were probably on par to the last sale, two weeks ago," he said.
He said there was plenty of buyer interest, particularly from smaller butchers.
RJ&RJ Wooley, Nairne, topped the sheep section with a pen of five crossbred sucker lambs, which sold at $232 to Thomas Foods International.
BK&KL Griggs, Mount Pleasant, sold three woolly lambs at $202.
A pen of six lambs from Treloar Farms, Angaston, made $196, while three from Starick Darren, Eden Valley, sold at $192.
Treloar Farms also offered three hoggets, which made $140, as did one hogget from BK&KL Grigg.
Petanna Pastoral, Mindari, sold three hoggets at $128.
There were few wethers on offer, with the best of these, a pen of four from JR&KJ Zadow, Tailem Bend, sold at $150.
W Kleebsch & Co, Bugle Ranges, offered nine ewes with the best selling at $162, a second offering at $146 and the tail at $100.
D&M&C Schultz, Cambrai, sold nine ewes, to $120 for the tops and the rest at $100.
T Cobbledick, Highland Valley, sold five ewes at $118.
Mr Schultz said there was quite a few weaner cattle in at the sale, selling $30-$40 dearer to the previous sale.
Two Poll Hereford cows offered by A Candetti, Woodside, sold at $1580, while MI&CM Pym, Mount Torrens, sold a single Angus cow at $1540.
PD Schulz, Kapunda, sold seven Murray Grey cows with calves at-foot, at $960.
MI&CM Pym sold two Angus and Red Angus heifers at $1280.
A Candetti sold two Poll Hereford heifers at $1240.
NO Zimmerman sold two grainfed Murray Grey steers at $1340 with a third at $1220.
Dopen Pty Ltd, Rockleigh, sold a Murray Grey steer at $1200.
CM Bond, Walker Flat, sold two Red Poll steers at $1180.
The next Mount Pleasant market will be held on September 12.
