DAIRY Australia has announced three nominees standing for election to the DA board, ahead of the November annual general meeting.
There are three vacancies on the board of directors, with skills required in finance and governance, milk production and research and development.
Present DA chair Jeff Odgers has expressed his interest in returning to the board in the milk producer position.
Mr Odgers owns a dairy farm near Shepparton, Vic, and also serves as a non-executive director of Bega Cheese Ltd.
He has served two terms as a director and was appointed DA chair in December, 2017.
He says he is keen to maintain continuity in the delivery of initiatives and programs currently in progress.
First-time nominee Josephine Rozman has been nominated for the finance and governance position.
She is an experienced company director with strong finance, risk and accounting skills gained through executive and board roles at Elders Limited, Wine Australia Corporation and AustOn Corporation (a subsidiary of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan), which actively invests in agricultural sectors in Australia.
Paul Wood is standing for election for a second term, in the research and development position.
Professor Wood has more than 30 years' experience in agricultural R&D and is internationally recognised for his work in veterinary immunology and vaccine development and as an inventor of several patents.
Jan West is not restanding for election.
DA board selection committee chair David Lord said these nominees would bring a broad set of skills and experience that would add value to the goal of supporting farmers today, and the sustainability of the industry into the future.
To be successfully elected into the vacant director roles, each of the three nominees will require more than 50 per cent of the votes cast at the AGM.
Applicants who wish to nominate separately to the Board Selection Committee process can submit their nomination in writing, supported by signatures from at least 100 Group A members of DA.
Nominations must be received by DA by 5pm on Friday, August 30.
