WITH recent rains improving the season's prospects, there was a notable spring in the steps of the many farmers and their partners at the Elders Murray Bridge Beyond Blue auction dinner on June 21.
About 150 people attended the event at the Rydges Pit Lane Hotel at The Bend Motorsport Park in Tailem Bend.
Emcee John 'Robbo' Robinson welcomed all and introduced local Member for Hammond Adrian Pederick, who gave a short brief on local happenings in the region.
Robran Cock, guest speaker from Beyond Blue, gave an insight into his struggle, battling and conquering the 'Black Dog', and reinforced that anyone can suffer from the disease at any time.
Elders stud stock's Tom Penna teamed up with Robbo for the charity auction, with the night eventually raising Raising over $16,500 for Beyond Blue - far exceeding Elders Murray Bridge's target of $10,000.
Elders Murray Bridge branch manager Brett Inkley, who set the challenge for the branch, commended his team for their efforts, particularly sales support officer Stephanie Ziersch and branch operations manager Helen Lloyd, who co-ordinated the event.
The Rydges and The Bend Motorsport Park were also thanked for their outstanding service and hospitality.
