Growers converged on University of Adelaide's Waite campus on Monday to attend a GRDC workshop presenting the latest research and updates on nitrogen fixation.
The workshop was presented by Liz Farquharson and Maarten Ryder, University of Adelaide, and Ross Ballard, SARDI.
The group shared the latest information on topics such as optimising nodulation, dry sowing and acid tolerance challenges, and how to get the best results from inoculation.
Sam Trengove, Trengove Consulting, Bute, also presented on the day, advising growers on how best to increase lentil productivity on sandy soils on the northern Yorke Peninsula.
Workshop attendees also participated in an interactive session examining nodules on root samples, and were taught how best to assess nodulation in the field.
The Waite session was the third and final N fixation workshop held across the state, with similar workshops run in Kimba and Cummins last week.
