TWO bulls sold at $10,000 top price during the 2019 Dubbo Red Angus National sale last Wednesday, one to South Australia and the other to Queensland.
The first to make top money was the second placegetter under 26 months, Goondoola National, a 1000 kilogram son of Red Wheel Alliance, bred and offered by the Powe family, Goondoola stud, Cargo near Orange, and purchased by the Llewellyn family for their Jillangolo stud, Willalooka, South Australia.
The second $10,000 payment was made by Matt Kirk and family, Mt Saul Grazing, Ticoba Station, Mundubbera, Queensland, for Redgums Willy, by Red Wilbar Longitude, bred and offered by Cliff and Maree Downey, Redgums stud, Yambuna, near Echuca, Vic.
Current dry conditions were reflected in the 58 per cent auction clearance when 14 of the 24 bulls sold for a $5571 average and three of five stud females sold to a top of $4000 to average $3000.
Goondoola National was one of four bulls sold by the Powe family, for a $6000 average which included another two selling at $5000 each. A heifer sold at $4000.
They included the senior champion bull, Goondoola Never Forget, by Red DMM Glesbar Barndance, selling to Kellie Smith, K5X stud, Allora, Qld, and the junior and grand champion, Goondoola Nebraska, by Goondoola Lonestar, bought by Thelma Laurie, Gloucester.
Junior and grand champion female, the rising 15-month-old Goondoola Gold, by Red Six Mile Custom Made, sold to Barbara Imlach and family for their Red Angus stud herds at Scottsdale, Tasmania.
David and Ashleigh Hobbs, Round-Em-Up stud, Molong, sold five bulls, two at $7000 to average $5600.
Their under 20 months class third placegetter, Round-Em-Up Nepolian, by Claremont Red Heartbreaker, and Round-Em-Up Signature, by Red Six Mile Signature, were both bought at $7000 each by the Nivison family for Marmindi Pastoral, Walcha.
The Hobb's reserve junior champion bull, Round-Em-Up Nugget, by Round-Em-Up Falcon, sold for $5000 to the Shearer family, Singleton, while Round-Em-Up Non Stopable, also by Signature, sold at $5000 to Bartley Creek Partnership, Parkes.
Senior champion female, Round-Em-Up Utopia, also by Signature, sold for $3000.
The Smith family of Picton, bought two bulls, paying $4000 for each with Mt Charlie Red Rufus from Riddells Creek, Vic, their first buy followed with Goondoola Pioneer.
The sale was conducted by Landmark and Elders stud stock divisions, Dubbo, with Joel Fleming, Tamworth, selling for Landmark and Paul Dooley for Elders.
