SA DAIRYFARMERS may soon be able to take advantage of a government concession to help build cattle underpasses on their farms.
If a planned application from the SA Dairyfarmers' Association was successful, PIRSA's regional growth fund would provide dollar for dollar funding for the construction of underpasses to improve the commerciality of the South Australian Dairy Industry.
The intention to apply was originally flagged in February and since then the SADA said there had been good interest with at least five potential projects.
The fund is a $150 million commitment across 10 years by the SA government to enable businesses to access dollar for dollar infrastructure projects to aid SA business growth.
"For many years SADA has been aware of the challenges surrounding underpasses and the adverse effects the absence of underpasses have on dairyfarming," a statement from SADA said.
"SADA meets the requirements to be a project entity and we are calling for expressions of interest in a proposed underpass project/s.
"Sufficient interest has now been shown in this project and SADA will co-ordinate the required work to have the project scoped out and prepared for submission to the SA government."
SADA said the project was not limited to one project but may cover multiple projects across SA.
