While SA has received widespread rain in May, is it enough to be considered a season break in your area?

Farmers across many agricultural areas of the state are breathing a sigh of relief after finally receiving solid rainfall totals to get their cropping season off to a good start.

But as so often happens, rainfall totals have been highly variable.

Areas of Kangaroo Island and the Adelaide Hills have had more than 100 millimetres for May to-date. Cape Borda, on the western end of KI has had 118mm, while Parndana has received 102mm.

In the Hills, Ashton has the highest reading at 150mm for the month, Piccadilly has had 103mm and Uraidla is sitting on an even 100mm. On the Fleurieu Peninsula, Mount Compass has received 114mm.

But, some areas have received more modest rainfall so far this month.

This includes Berri and Renmark on 6.8mm and 6mm respectively, and Loxton with 11. Sedan has received 12.2mm in May.

The Upper South East and southern Mallee were also among the lower totals - with Pinnaroo on 11.3mm, Lameroo on 12.8mm and Keith on 15.9mm.
