A vacant piggery near Freeling, South Australia, is expected to generate interest among boutique pork producers and stock feed operators.
Colliers International's Jesse Manuel and Nick Goode have been appointed to sell the 'Magdala' piggery located approximately half way between Roseworthy and Tarlee in the Lower North region of SA.
Mr Manuel said the property's unique intensive livestock improvements and grain storage infrastructure would be key drivers in attracting interest.
"The Magdala property is a small-scale, productive landholding suited to the breeding and growing of pigs as well as grain production and storage" he said.
"It is located within one of the state's premium cropping districts and includes around 25 hectares of quality cropping land.
"Piggeries are thinly traded and the chance to acquire an asset with such specialised improvements is rare."
Magdala comprises specialised piggery buildings for farrowing, dry sows, mating, nursery and weaning, plus a range of other capabilities. In addition there is a large storage shed, workshop and portable office.
Mr Goode said the property also features 14 silos with a toal capacity of over 1000 tonnes for grain storage and utilities connected include three-phase power and mains water.
The previous piggery operation has ceased and the property is now vacant, ready for a new operator to move in.
The property is well located only 26 kilometres north of Gawler and 75 kilometers north of Adelaide via the Northern Expressway and Main North Road. Nearby towns include Wasley's, Freeling and Hamley Bridge.
The region is characterised by a range of agricullture and food pursuits including cropping, grazing, intensive livestock, meat processing, hay and grain/stock feed processing and of course wine production, being located just outside the Barossa Valley.
