An eight-year-old cow and its heifer calf were judged supreme exhibit at the Murray Grey National Show and Sale at Wodonga, Vic, on Monday by judge Andrew Green, Euroa, Vic, and his associate Caitlin Porter, Merriwa, NSW.
Graduating from the class born between March 2011 and March 2012, Arki Kate G23 - exhibited by the Buick family, Arki stud, Western Flat - went on to be judged champion led female and supreme exhibit.
The daughter of Eylwarra Sands Caretaker and its heifer calf by Arki Mighty Boy were considered by Mr Green to have all the maternal traits and carcase attributes of the breed.
"It is a terrific cow, the complete package and at eight years it is still doing a great job for its calf," he said.
It has balance, depth and the carcase attributes we are looking for.

"It has enormous capacity, great depth and softness which is essential if the beef industry and the Murray Grey breed is to continue to produce quality beef through tough seasons."
The reserve champion led female, Cratloe Eartha, a 12-month-old daughter of Cullenya Houston, was exhibited by Ian and Anne Burnside, Sunbury, Vic.
First-time Murray Grey national exhibitors Neil and Joanna Carr, Mount Torrens, won champion led bull with Carrsview Nimble Be Quick, a 20-month-old son of Ayr Park Hugh.
Mr Green was very happy with the bull, who he described as an all-round type.
"It has balance, depth and the carcase attributes we are looking for," he said.
Ms Carr was ecstatic about their success and also thought the bull had great structure, very good legs and was well-balanced.

The champion unled female, 16-month-old Ganado Noelle, was shown by Courtney Hazeldene, Newbridge, Vic, while the reserve, Waroona Taree, was exhibited by Graham and Karen Hobbs, Molong, NSW.
Bryce Whale, Glen William, NSW, exhibited the champion unled bull, Glenliam Farm Nissan, a 26-month-old son of Tullbardine Jeopardy.
Meanwhile, the multi-vendor national Murray Grey sale topped at $15,000, with seven of 19 bulls sold averaging $6714, and 13 of the 22 females offered finding homes for a $926 average.
The $15,000 top price bull, Onward Nougat, was bought by Charles and Janet Wallace, Woodbourn Murray Greys, Cressy, Tas. The 21-month-old son of Burnett Downs Kenworth was offered by Sue Francis, Onward Murray Greys, Dorrigo, NSW.
Nigel Eylward, Lucindale, achieved the top female price of $5000 for seven-year-old Eylwarra Sands Violetta, which was snapped up by Trevor Stratford, Tumby Bay.
Mr Stratford bought three females averaging $3666, and a new sire for $4000.
