PRICES were solid at Mount Pleasant on Thursday on cattle with condition, but as quality fell away so did bidding.
Landmark Fawcett Mount Pleasant principal Colin Fawcett said competition was strong because of a handful of graziers, from Meningie, Maitland and locally, in the crowd, along with the butchers and processors.
Cows peaked at $1380 for an Angus from RD Fuller, Eden Valley, who also sold another at $1320 and a bull at $1840
Andemar, Mount Pleasant, sold five Charolais cows at $1340.
Poll Hereford-cross heifers made the top price of $980 for two from Wirrealpa & Partners, Blinman, while five Poll Hereford-Murray Greys from MJ Place, Sandy Creek, made $940.
Steers sold to $1300 for a Poll Hereford from IS&SL Paech, Wynarka, who also sold another at $1260 and another at $1120.
Liberty Pastoral, Eden Valley, sold three black baldys at $1140, while Keith Rattei, Springton, sold two Murray Greys at $1060, and Reekes/Luke Parsons, Cambrai, sold two Angus at $1060.
The crossbred lamb sale peaked at $202 for three from NW&GA Harris, Sedan, while nine lambs with a bit of wool from P&M Vanbalen, Mount Pleasant, made to $188.
JW&JA Girdham, Mount Barker, sold four lambs at $184, while AH Smith sold 11 at $180.
Hoggets sold to $125 for one from DJ Fromm, Mannum, while C&E Boxhall, Petwood, sold seven hoggets at $118.
Wethers sold to $100 for eight from Green Valley, Nairne, which also sold seven ewes at $108, 11 ewes at $100, and three hoggets at $115.
AJ&JI Bowd, Athelstone, also sold a wether at $100.
Castle Hill Farm, Mount Barker, sold 15 ewes at $104 and six ewes at $62.
