SA graingrowers are urged to attend the GRDC farm business update forum in Adelaide next week to ensure they remain at the forefront of rapidly evolving business requirements.
The grain market outlook, investing in grain storage, optimising profits from canola, essential tax management strategies and labour management will be discussed by key speakers.
GRDC grower relations manager - south Darren Arney said the update would reveal opportunities for growers to build farm profitability through decision-making around the non-agronomic aspects on their grain enterprises.
"The update is a platform for addressing business issues that have a direct influence on their profitability," he said.
Forum speakers include Lachstock Consulting's Nick Carracher who will discuss critical assessment of the outlook for domestic and global grain markets and delve into the main factors that affect Australian markets and the impact of the positioning of our global competitors.
Preserving grain on-farm and ensuring return from investment in storage infrastructure will be a topic to be discussed by storage experts Chris Warrick and Ben White.
Consultant Ed Hunt will present farm economic data that provides clear direction on production strategies for canola crops in different rainfall zones, while Pacer Legal's Stephen Park will detail a practical farm legal checklist - from succession to business structures.
WSA Chartered Accountants director Brain Wibberley will look at how effective tax management strategies go hand-in-hand with building a successful business enterprise.
Closing keynote speaker will be champion Australian hockey player and coach Ric Charlesworth who will provide a unique insight into achieving excellence and building personal resilience in business.
The farm business update will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Wednesday, March 27, from 9-4pm.
