Female stock agents in SA are few and far between but Elders Naracoorte's newest territory sales manager Abbi Power has boosted the ranks.

Ms Power, who hails from McLaren Vale, spent three and a half years working on a couple of properties in the South East before being accepted for a branch-based traineeship 16 months ago.

"Farming and livestock are in my family's history and I enjoy working with livestock but I wanted to work more on the people side of the industry," she said.

During her time learning the trade she spent a considerable amount of time at the saleyards and on the road with Naracoorte branch manager Tom Dennis.

But Ms Power says she is ready to build her own client base.

"I am passionate about women in agriculture and hope I can be an example to others to give it a go and also help my clients make more money," she said.
