FOR one of its largest yardings in recent history, the Jamestown sheep market was interfaced with AuctionsPlus today to sell about two-thirds of the 30,000 head yarded.
More than half the yarding, 12,000 head, was sold by Jumbuck Pastoral from its Bulgunnia and Mulgathing stations.
The top Mulgathing wethers, April/May-drop Gunbar-blood made $44 for 525 head weighing 26.2kg, while a second pen of the exact same made $43 and another pen of 774 Bulgunnia wethers av 26.5kg made $42.
The top wether price per head of $128 went to CC Cooper & Co, Jamestown.
The 380 June/July-drops were January shorn Gum Hill-bloods, weighing 32.8kg, sold to Landmark Mount Pleasant.
Another pen of the same, 709 Feb-shorns, av 42.6kg, made $126 to Princess Royal, while 333 weighing 39.5kg made $122 to Landmark Lucindale.
The Coopers also sold 318 av 38.3kg at $118 to Princess Royal; 885 at 37.3kg at $120 to AuctionsPlus; 1301 at $119; 897 av 30.5kg at $102 to Landmark Murray Bridge; 299 av 30.5kg at $104 to Rodwells Keith; and 232 av 29.4kg at $106 to Rodwells.
Other good wether prices included $122 for 109 June/July-drop Mernowie-bloods, Dec-shorn, from BS&YL Nietschke and $120 for 105 April/May-drop Rices Creek-bloods, Nov-shorn, from NA&AM Hampel, Kapunda.
In the ewe lambs, ADS&JLS Major sold 97 July/Aug-drop Morley-bloods, Sept shorn, at $146 to Landmark Ballarat, while 106 April/May-drop Hamilton Run Dohne ewes, 43.1kg, sold by JV Modystach, Booleroo Centre, made $140.
John Modystach dispersed 351 head at the sale, which also included 137 joined April/May-drop Hamilton Run Dohne ewes at $152 to Elders Karoonda and 109 April/May 2014-15-drop joined ewes at $118 to AuctionsPlus.
DT Dalla sold 71 July 2017-drop Collinsville-blood ewes, Oct shorn and run with White Suffolk rams, at $186, while GK Zwar sold 133 July 2014-drop Goldvale Dohne ewes, Jan shorn and SIL to White Suffolk, at $167 to TDC Penola.
Bennet Farm Trust sold 259 Aug/Sept 2013-drop Gumhill-blood ewes, Jan shorn and SIL to Suffolks at $170 to Elders Pinnaroo, while Glebe Nominees sold 147 Aug/Sept 2014-drop Mallee Hill ewes, Feb shorn and SIL to White Suffolk, at $165 to TDC Penola.
Jumbuck Pastoral ewes sold to $91 for 657 April/May 2014-drops, Feb shorn and SIL to Merino.
Two more pens each holding 657 made $90 each.
Buying support came from the Mallee, Eyre Peninsula, South East and local areas, along with Ballarat, Euroa and St Arnaud in Vic, and Wagga Wagga and Bathurst in NSW, while the trade was represented by Fletchers, Midfield, TFI and JBS.
