Graziers, researchers and industry members met in Robe on Wednesday night for the Livestock SA Southern Region meeting.
Meat & Livestock Australia global manager of trade and market access Andrew McCallum was guest speaker for the event.
Mr McCallum covered topics including major export markets for Australian cattle and lamb, levy allocations, growth in red meat demand and the lamb definition change.
Topics discussed in the open forum included feral deer, live exports and animal welfare standards.
Earlier in the day, MLA held a forum discussing ongoing livestock research and industry updates.
The sessions covered bone densitometry technology updates, risk management in mixed farming systems, precision lambing, capturing value from better quality carcases.
Presenters came from the University of Adelaide and SARDI, among others.
A panel Q&A was also held.
