A SOUTH Australian brand has risen to the top, winning the best cream at the 2019 Australian Grand Dairy Awards.
Tweedvale Milk’s Tweedvale Pure Double Cream, based in the Adelaide Hills, was named champion during the judging.
The awards are a celebration of the nation’s dairy and cheese products.
Led by chief judge Russell Smith, alongside a suite of cheesemongers and technical specialists including guest judge, United States-based specialty cheese buyer, Mariah Christensen, the 12-strong judging panel critiqued more than 400 products across 18 categories to determine the finest Australian dairy produce.
The highest accolades, Grand Champion Dairy and Grand Champion Cheese, were this year awarded to producers from WA and Tas.
Western Australian producer, Mundella Foods, was crowned Grand Champion Dairy for their Greek Honey Yoghurt, and Tas’s Lion Dairy and Drinks was awarded the Grand Champion Cheese title for their King Island Roaring Forties Blue Cheese.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Australian Grand Dairy Awards, the Australian public was also encouraged to get behind their favourite products and vote online for the People’s Choice Award.
This year, Maleny Dairies was voted Australia’s favourite for their Farmers Choice Non-Homogenised Milk.
