CQLX combined agents yarded a total of 3081 head on Friday, an increase of 1198 on last week’s sale. The yarding consisted of 1202 steers and bullocks, 1133 heifers, 516 cows, 87 cows and calves and 143 bulls and mickeys. Cattle were drawn from as far as Wandoan, Collinsville, Bowen and most parts of Central Queensland.
Quality can only be described as mixed as plainer cattle continue to come forward due to dry conditions and as a result of the mixed quality yarding the market fluctuated.
Slaughter steers sold to 302.2c, average 293.4c, steers 400-500kg made 300.2c, average 288c, steers 300-400kg reached 298.2c, average 276.9c, steers 200-300kg made 298.2c, average 263.1c and steers under 200kg sold to 312.2c, average 256.1c.
Slaughter cows sold to 257.2c, average 224.7c, cows 400-450kg made 251.2c, average 200.6c, cows 320-400kg reached 250.2c, average 180c, and cows under 320kg made 228.2c, average 140c.
Heavy heifers sold to 258.2c, average 251c, heifers 300-400kg made 278.2c, average 257.5c, heifers 200-300kg reached 280.2c, average 242c, and heifers under 200kg made 260.2c, average 197.2c.
Cows and calves sold to $1150/unit, average $750/unit.
Bulls over 600kg made 296.2c, average 244.1c, bulls 450-600kg reached 296.2c, average 272.8c and bulls under 450kg sold to 296.2c, average 240.7c.
