GROWERS within the Kimba and Wudinna districts are being asked to participate in a night travel trial for agricultural vehicles and combinations up to 6.1 metres wide.
Grain Producers SA’s Transport and Supply Chain Committee has been actively lobbying the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure to begin this trial, following the earlier night travel approval for vehicles up to 4m wide.
Beginning in February 2019, the 6.1m trial is anticipated to go for 6 to 12 months, and will be restricted to roads or areas within the boundaries of the District Council of Kimba and Wudinna District Council and excludes travel on state roads.
The benefits and impacts of moving wide agricultural vehicles at night will be assessed.
DPTI are seeking registrations of interest from operators who would be interested in participating in the trial.
