IT HAS been a big month for markets with 14 scheduled across the state during November, keeping agents, vendors, buyers and transporters very busy.
There were some big moments, including a new record set at the start of the month, when first-cross ewes reached a state record for saleyard prices at $386.
The sale-toppers were a line of 119 June-drop young ewes, offered by the James family, Coolawang, Mundulla, and knocked down to Elders Naracoorte.
This was the second year the James family had topped the sale, also setting a record last year at $366.
The dry season has gone some way to keeping prices somewhat constrained for sheep and cattle but recent rain and a good season in pockets of the states has helped sustain demand.
