BORDERTOWN producer Richard Halliday’s four-year term as WoolProducers Australia president came to a close on Thursday last week at the organisation’s annual general meeting held in Sydney.
Mr Halliday was involved with WPA for eight years, including a year as vice-president.
In his time as president, Mr Halliday played a leading role in restructuring the organisation including bringing in capped terms of six years for directors.
“I think it helps bring in new ideas and keeps the organisation moving forward,” he said.
Mr Halliday said it was pleasing to see the number of younger producers becoming involved with WPA, especially through the Raising the Baa leadership program.
“We’re really starting to see great results from that program,” he said.
Another highlight was the establishment of the WPA health and welfare advisory committee.
Livestock SA president Joe Keynes praised Mr Halliday’s work.
"Richard Halliday has served us very well the past four years, he’s given a magnificent contribution to the wool industry," he said.
Ed Storey, Yass, NSW, steps in as the new WPA president, while Steve Harrisonn Gippsland, Vic, is vice-president.
