Feds’ drought plan – pass or fail? | POLL
PRIME Minister Scott Morrison unveiled his plan to help deal with the ongoing drought in Canberra last week, announcing a $5-billion Future Fund and several other key measures.
While the National Farmers’ Federation welcomed the package, federal Opposition agriculture spokesperson Joel Fitzgibbon criticised the government for its lack of long-term strategies for carbon mitigation and best practice climate adaptation.
But Mr Fitzgibbon did praise Mr Morrison for accepting that there is a need to address climate change and build resilience among farmers.
