PRICES for breeding ewes lifted by about $20 at the Jamestown feature ewe sale on Thursday, with 5.5-year-olds hitting $161.
Making the highest price for 5.5yo ewes was Garawang, Georgetown, with 127 August-shorn, Baderloo-bloods.
While young ewes did not hit the extreme highs of the previous month’s feature sale, they still sold well, reaching $244.
The top price young ewes were a line of 66 Moorundie Park-blds from KJ&SJ Lemon, Gulnare.
Making the second-highest price for young ewes were CH Goss Nominees, Burra, with 40 Greenfields-blds sold for $226 to Nampara.
The highest price for 2.5yo ewes was $180 for 149 North Ashrose-blds from ADS&JLS Major, Kimba, sold to Landmark Gawler.
BC Lock, Yongala, topped the 3.5yo section at $164, with 57 Lines Gum Hill-blds at $164.
Two vendors made the highest price of $174 for 4.5yo ewes – DJ&BD Smith, Tarcowie, with 179 East Bungaree-blds and Belalie Farm, Belalie, with 140 Lines Gum Hill-blds.
DJ&BD Smith also sold the top price line of wethers, with 125 September-shorn East Bungaree-blds at $130.
Not far behind was CS&AM Simpson, Belalie North, with 197 Lines Gum Hill-bld, September-shorn wethers at $126.
Crossbred lambs topped at $127 for White Suffolk-Merinos from Muttabee Traders.
