THE issue of compulsory land acquisition can be incredibly complex and stressful for affected landowners, but some South East producers say amending existing legislation would help make the process easier.
John Ratcliff had 69 hectares near Kingston acquired as part of the South East Flows Restoration Project, and says current laws do not recognise the true impact of acquisitions on agricultural landowners.
But a state government spokesperson said the acquisition process for the flows restoration project had been fair and transparent.
