IT was a big four days in the dairy ring at the Royal Adelaide Show, with some of the best breeders in SA – and interstate – showing off their genetics for judges from across Australia and across the ditch in New Zealand.
Holsteins were the big winner in the interbreed competition, claiming three of the five big awards.
Champion Mooway Destry Carmel continued its winning form from last year, after first taking out the Holstein senior cow title.
This year’s feature breed was the Jerseys, with good numbers of entries, including an exhibitor from WA. Ashtaney stud, Moculta performed well in the judging.
A champion in the Aryshire ring has continued its winning streak as a 10-year-old.
There was also a returned champion in the Guernsey ring.
In the Illawarra breed, a familiar cow family stood on top.
There was also plenty of other action in the ring with the dairy junior show, junior judging and junior handling.
This year Adelaide also played host to the national junior judges and national junior handlers’ competitions.
