THE Royal Adelaide Show’s Merino and Poll Merino judging is always a highlight on the show schedule, with some of the country’s best sheep sharing the mat in the sheep pavilion.

This year, ultimate glory went to the Sullivan family, Greenfields stud, Hallett, who won supreme exhibit with their imposing Merino ram Lofty.

Greenfields completed an impressive supreme double, also picking up the top prize in the wool section.

Lofty began its show campaign in the August-shorn Merino classes, rising to grand champion ram. In the August Poll Merinos, Balaklava stud Nyowee and Mulloorie stud, Brinkworth and Tintinara, shared the spoils.

Victorian stud Terrick West nabbed the grand champion ram ribbon in the March-shorn Poll Merino judging, while Mulloorie ewes performed well in the March Merinos.

Mernowie topped the Fibre Meat Plus competition, while Old Ashrose had the highest aggregate score.

The hugely popular school wether competition was won by Keith Area school, thanks to the impressive meat value of their three wethers.

In the state young judges competitions, Cody Jones took out the Merino sheep judging title, Poppy Pilmore while reigned supreme in the fleece judging section.
