MORE than 60 years of Poll Hereford breeding went under the hammer at the Pitlochry Station dispersal sale at Tilley Swamp on Thursday last week, with 165 heifers sold to $1080, averaging $1038.
The top line of 63 heifers were knocked down to Westech Ag, on behalf of client MH Marwood, Kingston, who also took a further 40 heifers at $1000.
Thomas Foods International bought 62 heifers at $1020.
There were 545 cows and calves sold to $2000, averaging $1538.
The top line of 33 cows and calves sold to Miller Whan & John, which also bought a further 28 at $1700. Pinkerton Palm Hamlyn & Steen, account Brown, bought 27 cows and calves at $1800.
PPHS agent Scott Bittner said there was a lot of local support at the sale.
“The majority of the cattle stayed in the South East, with one load going to Camperdown, Vic,” he said.
