CONTINUED positive buying at Hill-View Dohne stud in Streaky Bay on Friday last week, saw both the top and average excel, with interest from local and interstate buyers.
At the twelfth annual sale, Peter and Heather Holmes presented 65 rams and cleared 59 to a top of $4000, with an overall average of $1322 – a lift of $257 from last year.
Greg Hall, Ulooloo Dohne Stud, Hallett, took home the top ram which boasted a fleece with 17.6 micron, and a Dohne index number of 177.8.
He selected the ram for it’s good structure, body weight, and strong wool figures
Return buyers included TJ Patterson, Streaky Bay, with seven to a top of $3700, averaging $1671, AA Trezona, Streaky Bay, bought five to $2800, averaging $1360, and IP&SG Kenny, Lock, also with five to $2000, averaging $1340.
Other local Streaky Bay buyers also bought bulk, IP&SG Kenny purchased four rams to a top of $2700, averaging $1625, and Deep Well Station also with four, averaging $1125.
Loyal Western Australia client, AW Leach & Co, Katanning, didn't leave empty handed having secured two rams averaging $2250, and Eagle Ridge, Cowell, purchased one ram for $3000.
Mr and Mrs Holmes were very pleased with the sale result and attendance, with the opening lots fetching consistent high prices in what has been a tough season.
