The first sons of Gunallo 150460 ‘Sir Cumference’ sold at auction gave the Schroeder family from Pinnaroo their best result in more than 15 years as vendors at the Hamilton Sheepvention sale in Vic, on Tuesday.
Stewart and Gavin Brophy, Tintinara, and their Spence Dix & Co agent Simon Lehmann led the way, taking home two of them – lot 42 and 43 – at $11,000 and $10,000.
Kevin Hynam, Hynam Poll stud, Longwood, Vic, snapped up lot 45 for $10,500.
Stud principal Ray Schroeder said Sir Cumference was close to the “full package” with more sons to be sold at their upcoming on-property sale and Classings Classic sale.
“It is very good structurally but is putting white wools which are well nourished on the sheep.”
Gunallo’s pen of five rams averaged $7700.
Fellow Mallee breeders Peter and Marianne Wallis, Glenlea Park, Pinnaroo, sold two rams for $10,000 each to AJ&PA McBride and Boorana stud, Woorndoo, Vic.
