Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 1758 head on July 18, consisting of 751 prime cattle and 1007 store cattle.
Prime cattle consisted of very few bullocks, with some good lines of fat cows as well as a large number of bulls. The yarding was drawn from Richmond, Julia Creek, Ravenswood, Mount Garnet, Coen, Croydon, Ingham, Townsville, coastal and local areas.
Bullocks were quoted 2c dearer, heifers were 2c dearer, cows were 3c dearer and bulls were 2c dearer on last week’s rates.

Bullocks topped at 255.2c/kg sold on a/c LT&CP Curley weighing 604kg to return $1541 per head.
Best priced trade heifers were presented on a/c I&J Ievers that sold for 239.2c to weigh 433kg and return $1036 per head.
The top pen of cows were sold by Bart Rutherford for 220.2c, weighing 570kg to return $1255 per head.
Bulls sold on a/c DF&DM Jones topped at 268.2c and weighed 800kg to return $2145 per head.

A pen of 21 steers a/c KJ&MM Taylor, made 278.2c and weighed 173kg, returning an average of $480 per head.
A good pen of 20 heifers a/c Claraville Station, made 232.2c, weighed 334kg for a return of $775 per head.
Three cows and three calves sold on a/c E Butler, returned $940 per unit.
