A RECORD number of entrants – 213 – are attending this year’s SA Junior Heifer Expo at the Adelaide Showgrounds.
Expo president Mark Llewellyn said every state and the NT was represented at the event.
“There’s a really big contingency from Tas this year, which is fantastic to see,” he said.
“It’s great to see how many kids have come along and how the event has continued to grow.”
The expo, which has been going for 35 years, held an education day on Tuesday, focusing on areas like nutrition, calving and how virtual reality can be used in the livestock industry.
Taking part for the first time this year was Keira Campagnolo, Savannah Simmentals and Simbrahs, Myponga, showing Savannah Miss Zoe N44, a seven-month-old red Simmental.
The youngest entrant at the expo, Keira had been keen to take part before, but just reached the cut-off age of 8 on June 10 this year.
“I’m looking forward to having fun and showing my heifer off in the ring,” she said.
