Is a review needed to decide the fate of GM?
The state government has not set a date but promises there will be an independent review into the the quantitative benefit of the state prohibiting the cultivation of GM food crops.
Primary Industries and Regional Development Minister Tim Whetstone said it was an issue that had been raised often with him since he stepped into the primary industries portfolio.
“There will be an independent review and it won’t be based on any form of ideology,” he said.
“We want there to be a scientific base behind any determination.”
