TRUCKIES and transport industry representatives from across SA and interstate gathered at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on the weekend for the Livestock & Rural Transporters Association of SA 32nd annual conference.
Speakers included SAPOL heavy vehicle enforcement’s Ian Norris, who spoke about issues officers were seeing on rural roads and new laws that were coming into force for the South Eastern Freeway and the steep penalties that could apply.
Australian Livestock & Rural Transporters Association president Kevin Keenan urged transport operators to urgently write their federal MP and other key decision makers to express their view about live sheep exports. Mr Keenan said it was not only farmers that would be severely affected if there was a live export ban, but also transport businesses and rural communities.
