THE first public hearing towards the Murray-Darling Basin Royal Commission will be held next Monday in Adelaide.
The hearing will be held at the Adelaide Town Hall from 10am, and will be open to the public and media.
Commissioner Bret Walker will provide opening comments, and Senior Counsel Assisting Richard Beasley will make an opening statement.
Organisers have advised there will be limited seating available, but a live audio hearing will be streamed on the Commission’s website, with a transcript available following the hearing.
The Commission was established in January by the SA Governor to inquire into the operations and effectiveness of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, with the final report due on February 1, 2019.
So far the Commission has consulted with communities across the MDB and visited key Basin sites, and has received more than 100 submissions on its inquiry.
- The public hearing will be held in the David Spence Room, second floor, Adelaide Town Hall, 128 King William St, Adelaide, from 10am on Monday, June 18.
