Malcolm Parker, Craggy Lea, Springton, paid equal top price of $2100 at Thursday's third All Star Spotlight Spectacular Friesian sale at Allenby, Charleston, for the 2.5 year-old heifer, Wiabunna Royal Interest. Also admiring the heifer is James Zerk, Springton.

The Poll Shorthorn Society's federal council met in Adelaide.

These six to seven month-old heifers are part of a consignment of 200 header for Kuwait. All are from Friesian dams but are by various beef sires. They will be used for breeding purposes and follow a similar order of 100 of the same description sent to Kuwait last month.

National and State price records went crashing when this half-sister to Herminia (Without Fear-Clochmerie) was sold by Mr and Mrs Honner, Ynoo, Maitland, for $95,000 to Hilcrest Nominees, Mornington, Vic. A capacity crowd witnessed the inaugural Sunday selling at the 1978 SA yearling sales with prices averaging $10,308.

WA identity Rod Evans, Perth, talking with Lt. Col Frank Beale of London, who led a party of 25 British bloodstock breeders to Australia, and Harold Jarvis, also of Perth.

Narrung stud sold this sister to Brass Boy (Boysie Boy-Brass Place) for $23,000, to Brisbane trainer Jim Kennedy, and was the top priced Boysie Boy filly of the sale.

Buyers and vendors consist of Rock O'Sullivan, Brisbane, Don Brown, Narrung Stud, Jim Kennedy, brisbane trainer, and Colin McAlpine, Eureka Stud, Cambooya, Queensland. 

TS White, Bulleen, Victoria, a regular buyer of top yearlings in Adelaide, paid $28,000 for this Without Fear-Merrilee filly which is closely related to Bold Patriot.

Malcolm Wuttke, Oakbank Farm, with the three-quarter brother-in-blood to Leica Show (Showdown-Predent to Leica) sold for the second top price of the sale at $38,000 to leading Australian trainer JB Cummings.

Mr and Mrs Keith Gregory of Melbourne, have been particularly successful with horses bought at the SA yearling sales, and their latest purchase should be no exception, the colt by England-based sire Sun Prince, bought from the Club Syndicate for $30,000.

Narrung stud groom Liz Kerley, with lot 89, the Boysie Boy-Raw Metal colt, which sold for $26,000.

John Grieg, with the biggest Suffolk ram in Australia, is pictured with Ron Desley of Southern Farmers.

John Nellingan, Sandilands, with his wife Carlien and brother Kerry, and the Without Fear-Tereus chestnut coolt sold to Bart Cummings for $30,000 at the SA yearling sale.

The highlight of Sperry New Holland's first national dealer conference in Melbourne last week, was the release of five new machines. More than 400 dealer personnel from all states attended the conference, including this group from SA.

Unmated heifers got their heads together on Wirreanda, Snowtown, and created an unusual group of under 15-month-old Poll Herefords.

Offered for sale was this young Poll Shorthorn Calimpa Foreman, 19, by Mandalong Super Foreman, on show a the Yongala stud field day, Jamestown.

Looking at Angus cows are Mrs Tait Kidman, a visitor from Argentina, June Smiles and staff member David Ball on Kiloran, Mount Compass, during the open day.

Near Victor Harbor, on Lincoln South Devon stud, all was crisp and sunlit on the morning of the field day when a young sire, Murrumba Park Brigadier, was paraded.

Southcote, Port Elliot, the Poll Shorthorn stud of former Adelaide Lord Mayor John Roche, reported a steady stream of visitors throughout the day. Great interest was shown in the stud's two bulls reserved for the Naracoorte sale. Also on display was their main sire, Galambine Supreme 7th. Burnt Oak studmaster Alan Higgins, yarded more than 300 cattle for inspection and sale, and was kept busy with a constant stream of visitors throughout the day. He took time off to discuss the stud's two Naracoorte sale bulls of Valley Vista Emperor 5, breeding with John and John Crosser, Rapid Bay Poll Shorthorn stud.

Marie Skelly took a day off from her susual secreterial duties at Cornell Suzuki to welcome visitors to David and Kathleen Cornell's Kukakunga Angus stud at Echunga, during SA beef field days. Signing the visitors book is Mrs Harold Phillips of Willunga,. The Cornells and Mr Phillips look on.

With much in common are these two widowed stud principals Mrs Frank Steer, Cannawigra, Mundulla, and Lady Luke, Deepfields, Romsey, seen together during the Cannawigra field day.

Fairbanks La Beauume 57 started school on Friday, under a loan plan arranged between the SA Poll Hereford Association and Urrbrae Agricultural High School. She will join the existing Poll Hereford herd being studied and cared for by students and staff, and is being admired by school chairman R Sharpe, principal RD Schulz and association president John Ashby.

South East farmers Dale Ewer, Avenue Range, Neil Nosworthy, Luncindale, and Dick Paltridge, Coomurra, were among those who made the trek this week to Virginia to collect parasite wasps.
