FARMERS on the Fleurieu Peninsula have gained valuable insight into soil health and water use at a field day held yesterday (Tuesday) at Willow Creek on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Held at Koolah, Willow Creek, attendees heard from Climate & Agricultural Support director and event facilitator Melissa Rebbeck about local case studies and replicated soil sites, as well as local soil moisture probes and the link to soil health from TOIP Telemetry Specialist’s Peter Toome.

Department for Environment and Water’s Jeremy Nelson was on hand to share findings on soil moisture and biomass links along with FP Ag’s Greg Mitchell who shared five case studies surrounding pasture production and water use under irrigation.

A number of displays were also on offer, showcasing methods to help improve soil health for farmers.
