WITH the cost of production and living continuing to climb, Eudunda farmer Karl Zerner hopes the wool prices will hold steady or continue to increase.
Mr Zerner runs about 2000 Merino breeding ewes besides a 485-hectare cropping program and said farmers who had stuck with sheep were starting to see dividends.
He said the present prices were exceptional, but had been a long time coming.
“I can’t see the wool prices going backwards,” he said.
“Certainly people have gone into cereal cropping away from the hard work of livestock, but I think anyone who has stuck with livestock has a bright future.”
Although Mr Zerner is yet to reap the latest wool rewards, he will be looking to move some wool shorn in March into the market soon.
