IRRIGATORS and Murray-Darling Basin water users will have the chance voice their concerns at a public hearing in Murray Bridge next week.
The House Standing Committee on Environment and Energy will visit four sites across three days, starting on Monday, for public hearings and site inspections on the inquiry into the management and use of Commonwealth environmental water.
Murray Bridge will be final stop of the tour on Wednesday, May 2 at the Town Hall from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Chair of the Committee Andrew Broad said the Committee was looking forward to meeting a diverse range of stakeholders, especially those from local communities.
“Local communities depend on the healthy rivers for drinking water, jobs and to provide opportunities for recreation,” he said.
“They are well-placed to advise the Committee on how governments can work with them to manage environmental water in a way that safeguards their way of life.”
