Numbers decreased by a little over 500 head with a yarding of 2485 at Emerald on April 19.
Despite some good quality drafts of local weaners and a reasonable offering of cows, the general trend was softer than last week, with the exceptions of a run of 350kg plus heifers.
In the prime section, bullocks over 500kg sold to 254c to average 249c, and heavy steers 500-550kg reached 249c to average 245c.
Heavy heifers over 400kg topped at 254c to average 235c, heavy cows made as much as 213c to average 197c, cows in the 450-520kg sold to 208c to average 188c while heavy bulls over 600kg reached 227c.
In the store section, heavy feeder steers 400-500kg reached 298c to average 237c, steers 350-400kg topped at 298c to average 247c, and 280-350kg steers sold to 306c to average 269c.
Meanwhile, 220-280kg steers made as much as 335c to average 306c while light steers under 220kg sold to 326c.
Feeder heifers 350-400kg reached 261c to average 236c, 280-350kg heifers sold to 267c to average 235c, 220-280kg heifers made as much as 278c to average 232c, while light heifers under 220kg topped at 282c. Too few cows and calves to reliably quote.
HIGHLIGHTS
Rick and Curly Leane, Brookong, Capella sold 356kg Droughtmaster cross steers for 258c and $921, while the Prewett family, Glendariwell, Emerald had their Brangus weaner steers sell for 335c and $880, the 222kg heifer portion to 237c and $527.
Steven Kirby, Wonga, Springsure offloaded 525kg Santa cross steers to 245c and $1287, while Dave Lundof Sugarloaf had 294kg Brahman cross steers make 274c to return $807.
The Benny family, Subera, Anakie sold a draft of Charbray weaner heifers, the 268kg tops to 269c and $722.
The Esmond family, Lucknow, Emerald had 570kg Santa cross cows make 200c and $1153, while the Mt Wilga cows on behalf of the Bettridge family, Alpha sold to a top of 209c and $1118.
