Among the throng of local graziers that attended Dalgety's opening of their new Ardrossan premises were DW and WJ Timperon, Muloowurtie.

Exhibitors of the champion Ryeland ram and ewe at the Naracoorte Show were Mr and Mrs TS Paternoster, Uroonda, Furner, pictured with CD Cordon, Keppoch.

Pioneer of the Coonalpyn district LH Burtt. Mr Burtt established a stud of Suffolk sheep for his daughter MR Burtt, and also purchased one of the top lines of "Naranga" sheep.

Some members of the Mount Barker branch of the Agricultural Bureau seen at a branch pasture contest were A Eckert, Flaxley, D Inness, Littlehampton, J Crompton, Mount Barker, and branch president Arthur Prosser.

The selling scene at an Allendale dispersal sale a/c Allen E Day & Sons, Alma. Mr Day is seen to the left of the ring with two of his stud Poll Dorset rams.

Pictured in the first-class selling ring at Ardno is Ardno Cora 21st, bought by FK McKay, Mullee stud, Scone, NSW, for 1450gns.

This group of sheep enthusiasts were seen at the Illoura Dorset Horn sale at Moorlands. They are W Crouch and C Stock, Moorlands, J Messenger, Cooke Plains, and WJ Jaensch, Moorlands.

Michael Elliot, Narunga station, Meningie, celebrated his 21st birthday at the recent Coonalpyn flock ram sales, and is with Ian Scott, Bennett & Fisher Limited, Adelaide.

(LEFT) Clem Smith, Strathalbyn, was at the Bennett's annual off-shears sale at Strathalbyn, while Suffolk breeder HJ Crouch, Stockport, was among the throng of buyers at the recent Allendale dispersal sale.

Alice Springs, NT, identities at a special Bowmans cattle sale were Mike Turner, Numery station, and Jack Martin, Mount Denison station.

Part of a line of Suffolk cross lambs yarded by P Shanahan, Freeling, which made 67/6 when sold by the SA Farmers' Co-operative Union at the abattoirs.

Abinnum district record price of 70/- each was paid for 2200 lambs by Thos. Borthwick, Portland. Some of the lambs are shown with Murray McFarlane (Borthwick's) and Hartley Lennard, Bennett's Naracoorte.

At the annual Stradbroke sale was LF Moore with his sons TL  (partially hidden) and GJ Moore, with Ian Thomas.

Secretary of the Longwood WAB branch Mrs J Rogers, was seen at a Hope Forest gathering of members with Mrs H Norsworthy and Mrs A Mauger, also from Longwood branch.

Long-distance travel for exhibition at the Mount Gambier Centenary Show paid dividens for this Polwarth ram and ewe, which gained champion awards for studmaster Eric Ashby, Mount Alma, Inman Valley.

Breeders at a Quorn sheep sale included J Hannigan and TJ Ragless, both of Quorn, with KH French, Willochra.

Winners of the Gambier View Trophy were the Dorset Horns of LW Spehr & Sons, Millicent. The Dorsets shown here comprise the three entries for the trophy, all entered by Mr Spehr, who won all major awards for the breed.

Mrs B Steer, Cannawigra, Bordertown, drapes the champion Poll Hereford ribbon on Ardno Dainty Boy, exhibited by RL McEachern, Ardno, Strathdownie, Vic.

Three old-timers seen taking over old times at the opening of Dalgety & Company's new Ardrossan premises were LA Short, WG Rowntree and LG Rowe.

During the recent tour by bushfire judges Lawrie Hodson, a jackeroo on a stud showed where fire and water had been used to make a break near a hayshed. The unburnt strop he stands on shows how effective the wetting before burning was.

OG McIver was indicating the irrigated pasture barrier on a Strathalbyn property. The lucerne, kept green by spraying, effectively protects the home on the property.

Seen at a Quorn sheep market were LR Barnes, of Wilmington, and AW Rodgers, Quorn.

"Everything stops for tea" could well describe this picture, taken during a recent inspection of Sailsbury Downs, the Broken Hill property of T Davis. Pictured around the "tea-table" are drover Arthur Robinson, Mr Davis, Bill Arnold and Don Reid of Bennett and Fisher Limited, and Ross McKay, of Barrier Air Taxis, who flew the party from Broken Hill to Sailsbury Downs.

Merino breeders with a wonderful 1960 show record are Stan and Norm Wood, Woodlands Brae, Kybunga, are show here with the Stradbroke ram they bought for 700 guineas at Murray Thomas' annual sale.

Horses are used for much of the transport work at Craigburn, the Blackwood property, which supplies Minda Home with much of its food requirements.

Standing under the verandah of Dalgety & Co's new Ardrossan premises at the recent opening was EB Nolan, SA Manager of Dalgety's, WK Grundy, Chairman of the District Council, J Walding, present branch manager, and J Sanders, local commission and barley receiving agent.

At a special sale of store cattle at the Gepps Cross Abattoirs, these gentlemen P Gibson, Keith, RG Dunsford, Elder Smith & Co Adelaide, HW Robinson, Desert Downs, Keith, and buyer J Bryant, Elder's Keith, were spotted catching up.

ME Golding, Parawa, consigned this pen of 22 crossbred lambs to the Gepps Cross Abattoirs. The auctioneers were the SA Cooperative Union, and the pen made 73/6.

Astride the champion AIS cow of all breeds at the recent Clare Show is Lesley Jones, Redhill. The cow, exhibited by WA Smart & Co, Birralee, Lake View, was also champion of all breeds at Jamestown and Crystal Brook.
