EYRE Peninsula grain producers Lisa Baldock, Buckleboo, and Rhianna Foster, Wudinna, have been awarded a scholarship from Grain Producers SA to attend the Thriving Women conference in Hahndorf next week.
Thriving Women is a two-day conference that aims to connect and advance women in agriculture.
For Mrs Foster, who crops 2000 hectares with her husband Matthew, said the conference would give her the opportunity to learn about what women were achieving in the grain industry, and other agricultural areas.
“I am particularly interested in mental health and wellbeing, communication and helping businesses thrive and succeed with investment models and succession planning,” she said.
Mrs Baldock and her husband Tristan moved back to Tristan’s family farm five years ago and became partners in the business.
Since then, Mrs Baldock has set about expanding her knowledge on succession planning, grain marketing, agribusiness management and understanding crop production.
She says she would like to expand her knowledge on aspects of the farming operation, in particular, understanding, implementing, and managing farm safety and building confidence and resilience within herself to cope with changes faced with life on the land.
“Farming life can at times be lonely and isolated, and I am very keen to use this opportunity to attend Thriving Women 2018 to build networks and connections with other like minded ladies which could potentially help me in the future,” she said.
