SA bred Bayview Usher L83 stole the limelight at the 58th Dectomax Dubbo Shorthorn National Show and Sale this week.
The 1010 kilogram bull was ushered to the front row by judge and Santa Gertrudis breeder David Greenup, Rosevale stud, Qld and remained there ahead of 116 other bulls.
Mr Greenup was taken with Usher for its mobility, performance and sire appeal.
It was just the second time Chris and Anissa and Kevin and Pam Thompson, Yorketown, have won the top accolade in 33 years as vendors, despite many divison broad ribbons.
The 23-month- old was among the first drop of calves by Ronelle Park Hurricane. Three half brothers averaged $11,500 at the Belmore sale last month.
Usher was the 2016 Royal Adelaide Show junior and grand champion Shorthorn bull and has continued on the up.
“It is an extremely free moving bull and ticks many boxes weighing over 1000 kilograms as as June (2015 drop) calf with an eye muscle area of 136 square centimetres and fat of 23mm and 14mm,” Chris said.
“It has a good sheath, testicles and feet needed in a stud sire.”
Usher was used over heifers last year.
“A month after we scanned the bulls and it (Usher) came up with the highest fat cover and second highest EMA.”
The Thompson family also won reserve division 4 champion with Bayview Ramsay L9.
Usher made the $32,000 top price in the sale, selling to NSW studs Terra and Doolibah.
