FEEDLOTS and restockers competed strongly to push prices up at the Jamestown market, held on Thursday.
Landmark Jamestown’s Shannon Jaeschke said the strong competition, particularly for scanned-in-lamb and joined ewes showed the confidence in the mutton and lamb job.
Elders Jamestown’s Jack Coleman said ewes had sold at $15 to $20 above his expectations, while lambs were on par.
“The stock were in very good condition and stood up well,” he said.
A run of 482 wethers, June/July 2016-drop, January-shorn, with Gumhill-bloodlines, from CC Cooper & Sons, Jamestown, from their Wonga Station, NSW, and backgrounded on grain, were sold at $134.
ME Kitschke & Sons, Whyte Tarcowie, sold 270 June/July 2016-drop, January-shorn wethers, Greenfield-blood, at $130.
NW&KM Kupke, Booleroo Centre, sold 200 August/September 2016-drop wethers, Baderloo-bld, at $129.
Lines & Hawthorne, Pekina, held their complete dispersal, which included 67 May/June 2016-drop wethers, Lines/Hawthorne-bld, sold at $126.
CJ,AB&AJ Clarke, Murray Town, sold 228 June/July 2016-drop, Baderloo-bld, also part of a complete dispersal, for $125.
AJ&PA McBride, Wilgena, had 528 July/August 2015-drop, Faraway Hills-bld, at $117.
Jumbuck Pastoral Co, sold 118 mixed age wethers from Bulgunnia Station, Gunbar-bld, at $126.
Wagena, Canowie Belt, offered 90 mixed sex June/July 2016-drop Dohnes, August-shorn, Babirra-bld, which sold at $125.50.
In the crossbred lambs, Tuilkilkey Enterprises, Peterborough, sold 184 August/September 2016-drop, at $134, while 120 sold for $117.
Wirrilla Holdings, Georgetown, had 60 November/December 2016-drop woolly crossbred lambs, which sold at $124.
In the ewe offering, Lines & Hawthorne had a pen of 56 2013-drop, January-shorn, Hawthorn/Lines-bld, scanned in lamb, sold at $249, while 17, 2014-drop sold at $242, 76, 2015-drop at $230 and 112, 2012-drop at $206 and 134, 2011-drop at $196.
DW&BE Villis, Hallett, had their complete drop of 269, May/June 2016-drop ewes, Lucernbrae-bld, sold at $163.
GR Coleman, Jamestown, had 174 August 2015-drop, September-shorn, Baderloo-bld, ewes at $220.
MG&JT Hancock, Quorn, offered 109 April/May 2015-drop, August-shorn, Gleninga Park-bld, SIL to a Morley-bld ram, which sold at $218.
RJ&SJ Lang, Georgetown, had 144, 2.5yo to 5.5yo, Samm ewes, SIL, sold at $205.
Torella Trading, Kadina, sold 139, 1.5yo, Moorundie Park-bld, SIL to a White Suffolk ram, at $200.
