Ferocious storm cells left a path of destruction across many of the state’s agricultural districts in November, as golf ball-sized hail and severe winds wiped out horticulture, viticulture and broadacre crops. For Bowhill graingrower David Herrmann (pictured centre with son Braden and farmhand Trent Buddle), harvest was a write off, with his 3965 hectares of crop almost completely wiped out. While the storm also caused significant damage to his farm equipment and grain storage – including a field bin blown on top of a silo – Mr Herrmann was humbled by the support from his
local community.

Vic Breeding celebrated 50 years with the AJ&PA McBride family business in June, with McBride property managers Mat Kerin, James Gibson, chairman Keith McBride, Kingsley Breeding, Brian McGrath, Warren and Lindsay Breeding, Shane Rooke, Grant Breeding, Josh Sheridan and Ian Matheson.

A new port facility was proposed for Lucky Bay on eastern Eyre Peninsula. Sea
Transport Developments SA manager Mark Cant said the proposal would feature $50 million in grain infrastructure, including 560,000 tonnes of storage.
