THERE were 2100 sheep and lambs and 140 cattle yarded at the Mount Pleasant sale on Thursday last week.
Auctioneer Colin Fawcett said the warm weather attracted a large crowd.
“It was a very solid sale, with a large gallery of buyers and onlookers,” he said.
Thomas Foods International, Princess Royal and Austral were major buyers in the cattle ring.
Murray Grey cows and calves reached a top price of $2520, bought by Pinkerton Palm Hamlyn & Steen Millicent.
TFI bought an Angus cow at $1600 from Rosebank, Mount Pleasant, while Laidley, Mount Crawford, bought a three-year-old Angus bull at $1900 from H Wendt, Greenock.
Red Poll vealer steers from CM Bond, Mannum, reached $1560, while heifers from the same vendor sold to $1540.
In the sheep section, four crossbreds from Rondenella, Mount Torrens, made $162.
Major buyers were TFI, Austral, Australian Lamb Corporation and South East store buyers.
Hoggets reached $95 and Merino ewes sold to $82, while rams reached $110.
Dorper ewes with lambs at-foot made to $180, bought by J&J and L&M Brown, Eden Valley.
The next Mount Pleasant sale will be November 3.
