Mid North-based stud Goolagong has shone at the Santa Central multi-vendor bull sale last week in Qld, selling bulls into some of the top studs in Australia.
The Tiller family’s four bulls averaged an outstanding $22,375, including two at $30,000 – the sale’s fourth highest price.
The bulls had been in Qld since early this year and prepared by Scott and Wendy Ferguson, Nobby, who hosted the sale.
Goolagong Kakadu, which was the reserve senior champion Santa Gertrudis bull at the Ekka in Qld in August, sold to Wave Hill stud, Narrabri, NSW, for $30,000.
Goolagong Legend sold to Brookside stud, Armidale, NSW, for the same money, while Glenn Oaks stud, Nobby, Qld, paid $20,000 for Goolagong Leopard L26 – the reserve junior champion at the 2016 Ekka.
Goolagong stud principal Heath Tiller was thrilled with the result.
“We knew they were good bulls and were hopefully going to make good money, but the best thing is where they are going, into some of the most highly-regarded Santa studs in Australia,” he said.
Mr Tiller said it was terrific to see their extensive AI and ET programs paying dividends and great interest in their cattle ahead of their inaugural Goolagong Santa Gertrudis and Angus on-property sale next February.
