A HANDFUL of new buyers helped Springvale North, Burra, achieve a total clearance and increased top price and average at their on-property sale on Friday.
The 85 Poll Merino rams sold to a $3000 top - up $800 on last year - and averaged $1260, a rise of $103.
The top-price ram went to Quality Livestock's Jeff Becker, Wudinna, bidding on behalf of AD Hutchings & Co, Minnipa.
He said the ram was selected for its large frame, with its bright wool a bonus.
The 120-kilogram sire had wool measurements of 18.4 micron, 2.9 standard deviation, 15.9 coefficient of variation and 99.7 per cent comfort factor.
He was sired by Collinsville 110021 - a son of Majestic - and was described by stud principal Peter Stockman as a "big, upstanding, long ram with terrific, well-nourished wool".
