Esjay Shout Rae, Esjay Holsteins, Flaxmans Valley, has backed up its prestigious win at International Dairy Week in January by winning champion cow at the Mount Pleasant Autumn Fair.
Judge Danial Bacon, Tennyson, Vic, said Rae was the easiest moving cow of the show and had no hesitation in making it champion ahead of reserve Glenunga Windbrook Stephany, Glenunga Proprietors, Moculta.
“It has a clear advantage over my reserve cow just on the way it tracks on those rear legs... and it has one of the best udders of the show,” he said.
The Seeliger family’s Esjay Holsteins had success throughout the show, also winning junior champion with Esjay Crush Winter and intermediate champion with Esjay Walter Mila.
The other breed champions at the fair were Cher-Bar Burdette Secret, Cheryl Liebich, Jervois, in the Ayrshire breed; Ashtaney Blackston Silver Finch, Ashtaney Jerseys, Moculta, as the Jersey champion; and Springvale Thelma 49, Springvale Illawarrras, Murray Bridge, as Illawarra champion.
