TWO men have been arrested for the alleged theft of cattle from a Tungkillo property.
Police allege a large number of Santa Gertrudis-cross heifers were put on the property in May.
When the owner went to collect them in September, 81 of the animals had been stolen.
A 52-year-old Tungkillo man was arrested and charged with theft on Monday.
He was refused bail and appeared in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where he was remanded in custody.
Yesterday, detectives arrested a 49-year-old Angas Valley man and charged him with dishonest dealing with property.
He was bailed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on January 16.
Seventeen of the missing cattle were located on Sunday by Murray Mallee CIB detectives.
At least 60 head of cattle remain outstanding
Investigations are continuing to locate the remaining stolen cattle.
