THERE was a dearer trend across the board at the Jamestown store sheep sale.
Elders Jamestown’s Scott Fleetwood, said there was an even line-up of sheep, with quality improving each sale.
“It was a consistent sale in bidding, particularly on ewes,” he said. “The top of the wethers were dearer again (on the last sale) but even the secondary lines were strong – everything was dearer.”
He said restocker interest was particularly strong, even in wether lambs.
Mr Fleetwood said there was good demand from the South East and eastern states, including interest from Mildura, Ballarat and Birchip in Vic.
Landmark Jamestown’s Shannon Jaeschke said the Jamestown market was developing a “very good following” from interstate for “good breeding sheep”.
A feature of the sale was a draft of older breeding ewes.
“There was a very quality draft of old breeding ewes that are very hard to come by,” he said.
He said there was a good line up of lambs, with the wether job quite strong.
